Rosé wine, often synonymous with summer soirées, is now taking centre stage in winter celebrations in the drinks industry.
Tesco Ireland has revealed that rosé’s popularity isn’t confined to sunny months, as sales of the pink-hued wine peak during December, rivaling the traditionally busy month of May. This shift highlights the versatile appeal of rosé, with more consumers opting for its refreshing flavours at holiday gatherings.
To cater to this growing trend, Tesco has introduced Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence to select stores across Ireland. Owned by Brad Pitt, this elegant wine boasts a pale hue and delicate aromas of redcurrant, rose, and lemon, making it a perfect choice for winter festivities.
Other crowd-pleasers include Tesco’s own Finest Provence Rosé, La Vieille Ferme Rosé, Whispering Angel Rosé, and Caves Des Roches Coteaux d’Aix en Provence.
A Fresh Twist on Festive Drinks
Fiona Whelan, wine buying manager at Tesco Ireland, explained the growing demand for rosé in winter:
“At Tesco, we’re seeing more and more people reach for rosé during the winter, even though it’s traditionally associated with summer.
With its vibrant notes and refined finish, rosé brings a fresh twist to a festive meal and is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser at any holiday gathering. It’s perfect as an aperitif or paired with a cheese board or a decadent dessert.”
Tesco has also highlighted its Crémant selection as a budget-friendly yet sophisticated alternative to Champagne. Made in France using the traditional méthode champenoise, Crémant delivers sparkling elegance at a fraction of the price.
Crémant: Sparkle Without the Splurge
Whelan shared her insights on Crémant’s rise in popularity:
“Crémant’s popularity has been on the rise in recent years, and it’s easy to see why. With its crisp bubbles and elegant style, it offers all the sparkle of Champagne at a more accessible price point.
As more people discover its versatility and quality, Crémant has become a fantastic choice for a variety of occasions, especially during Christmas. It’s the perfect accompaniment to fruit-based desserts like apple pies and crumbles.”
Whether you’re hosting a festive dinner or simply raising a glass to the season, rosé and Crémant are proving to be go-to choices for Irish shoppers.
With their versatility and vibrant profiles, they add a touch of elegance to any celebration, ensuring that your holiday gatherings sparkle just a little brighter.
