The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) UK & Ireland hosted its highly anticipated annual Christmas Charity Lunch last week, raising an impressive €33,700 for its charity partners. Held at the elegant Royal Horseguards Hotel in London, the event brought together 216 members and guests from the travel industry to celebrate the festive season with carols, auctions, and a spirit of generosity.
A Cornerstone Event for the Travel Industry
The PATA Christmas Charity Lunch has become a hallmark occasion for the travel sector, providing a joyful end to the year while supporting meaningful causes. This year’s sold-out event, organised in collaboration with TravelUni, featured a festive feast alongside engaging raffles and auctions.
PATA UK & Ireland Chairman Chris Crampton expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support:
“We marked the end of another fantastic year, achieving an outstanding total of €33,700. Heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the generous donors who contributed prizes for the raffle and auction – your support makes all the difference. I am deeply thankful for the extraordinary kindness and giving spirit in the room, which enabled us to reach this incredible sum.”
Generosity in Action
Among the highlights of the afternoon was the notable contribution by Sir Mike Gooley, CBE, Founder and Executive Chairman of Trailfinders. His generous support added significant momentum to the fundraising efforts.
Sir Mike Gooley shared his reflections on the event, saying:
“Well done to all at PATA for another successful event and for raising money for Dreams Come True. The Mike Gooley Trailfinders Charity is thrilled to support such a worthwhile cause. This time of year is about joy and hope, and every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of Christmas. I am pleased to play a part in supporting this charity’s superb work in making children’s dreams come true.”
Supporting Dreams Come True
This year’s chosen charity, Dreams Come True, focuses on bringing joy to children facing serious illnesses, disabilities, or life-limiting conditions. The funds raised will go directly towards helping children experience unforgettable moments of happiness during the festive season and beyond.
Festivities and Fellowship
The afternoon was filled with camaraderie, as attendees enjoyed a sumptuous meal, sang along to traditional carols, and enthusiastically participated in the raffle and auction. The collective effort of donors, attendees, and organisers demonstrated the power of community spirit and compassion during the holiday season.
The PATA Christmas Charity Lunch continues to shine as a beacon of goodwill within the travel industry, combining celebration with purpose. As Chris Crampton aptly noted, this annual gathering is a testament to the generosity and unity that make the travel sector truly special.
